[Rip might notice a vehicle parked outside the butcher's store today. The only odd thing about the vehicle is that it's been there for a good few hours now, right up to closing time, and its occupant has been watching the shop entrance very intently for comers and goers.
There's nothing to indicate it's a police vehicle Blackquill has "borrowed" from the department, on the grounds he had clearance from Integra to carry out an investigation. Really, Blackquill finds Integra's whole claim about vampire Nazis entirely laughable. It's absurd enough that he'd like to march into the shop to see the truth of the claims for himself. But he does, at least, take Integra seriously enough not to do anything reckless.
So he'll wait. He's hunted down a target for seven years before -- waiting a few hours for a suspect to show their face is nothing to him.]
[It was hard NOT to notice a vehicle with someone in it.. that never seemed to move. Rip wasn't an idiot and was no stranger to being stalked.. or to the sudden cat and mouse game that was sparking her curiosity.
She would glance out the window on occasion and spy right back as she worked. So far, she seemed to be pleasant and helpful towards any customers. Though, her smiles displayed a mouth full of sharp fangs even to the untrained eye.
But when it came to hunting.. Her newest play toy was going to learn quick who the better hunter was. She just needed to wait and see if he will come to her first like the delicious little morsel he was.]
[The teeth don't go unnoticed, but they're also easily dismissed. Cosmetic surgery, fake teeth, or any number of explanations were more likely to him than vampirism. He also notes that she seems to be treating the customers well enough, and there don't seem to be any kind of shady dealings or anything amiss...
But she knows he's watching, and he knows that she knows, so now it's simply a game of who blinks first. He'll continue to watch and wait until he can catch her on her own.]
[Well, he wasn't wrong about surgery, it just wasn't the kind he was thinking of~. Besides, if there were any shady dealings going to happen, she would politely redirect them to another day.. after she took care of a pest problem.
Does he really want to play this game? Rip has the advantage as far as she's concerned. When the shop finally closes, she helps clean up, lock up and starts to head home with an umbrella in hand and humming as she begins to walk. Lets see how committed to this chase he really is.]
[Blackquill stays in the car until she's a ways down the street, then gets out to follow on foot. He's not armed -- at least not visibly, anyway -- with no uniform or indication of who he might be working with.
He doesn't bother to make it any secret that he's following her, though. For all her apparent reputation, she doesn't intimidate him.]
[So her little stalker is foolish enough to follow her on foot? An he's not even trying to hide!
He would make such a horrible predator... She shakes her head slightly before turning to duck down an alley. At this point she's confidant he'll follow even if it is an obvious trap.]
[He has no intention of being a predator so much as a warrior, and those are driven by a loftier purpose, without any need of cowering and hiding. So he enters the alley, very much aware he's placing himself in danger by doing so, and calls after her.]
Is this the part where you leap from the shadows and drink my blood, Lady Butcher?
[There's mocking laughter in his voice. He wants to catch her off guard before she can do the same to him.]
Rip's waiting for him with her umbrella in arm and simply smiling as she watches his every movement. Now why could he be following her~?]
Maybe, zhe night is still very young~. But, first zhings first, I vould love to know vhy you are following such a lovely young voman like myzelf.
[Sorry, he's not catching her off guard. She's exactly where she wants him and depending on his answer... may depend on how soon she enjoys her meal for the night.]
Because I wanted to learn more about you, and there is no better way to do so than through observation.
[He stops up short. His lack of fear isn't just pure recklessness; after seven years of death row, constantly surrounded by mortal danger, confronting an eccentric butcher in a dark alley has an almost routine feel about it.]
When I saw you on the network, I must admit my curiosity was piqued.
[...It's not necessarily a lie. He's just omitting a lot of details, like a certain someone's involvement.]
Zhere are plenty of vays to learn more about zomeone, like valking into zhe shop and talking to me, not stalking me.
[That was her job. Perhaps it's time he re-learned some of his fear and who better of a teacher than her? Rip smiled slightly before hefting her umbrella to rest against her shoulder, much like she would her dear musket if she had brought it with her.]
Vas it~? It seemed to get zhe interest of a lot of people. Zome of vhich I'm sure simply vatched and didn't speak to me.
[Rip knows Integra is watching her. But would she send a lacky to confront the huntress? She doubted it. Which means this poor soul is dinner.]
But you were being so pleasant at your work, how could I interrupt? I'd have no hope of seeing the vicious creature lurking under that pleasant facade.
[His tone hardens, and he's not taking his eyes off her every movement, should she move or draw a weapon. He's hoping to provoke a reaction out of her, but he also doesn't know how extreme that reaction will be.
As for who's watching her? He doesn't reply to that one. Better to keep her guessing for as long as possible.]
[The moment she moves, he reaches into his coat for the tanto knife he'd brought along. He always always confident in his reaction speed: lightning fast, at least for a human. It's too late he realises the critical mistake he's made as she closes the distance between them, flinging him into the wall.
He'd come looking for evidence that this was no ordinary person he was dealing with, thinking this was all just a ruse... and here he had it.]
...Hellsing woman? [He grits his teeth, trying to push himself back to his feet.] Who... are you blathering about?
[Time to play ignorant. This is his fault he's in this mess, and he'd rather the chief not get dragged into it.]
[It's his fault for thinking that Rip was human. Or thinking that he could move faster than a creature built to attack humans~.]
Vho else could I be talking about? Sir Integra Fairbrooke Wingates Hellsing~. You know she impaled me to a tree once.. of course, zhat is zhe least harmful zhing she has ever done to me.
[Rip's just going to leave out the part where she goaded the woman into doing it. No, that was something she wasn't about to mention at all~.
Rip moved towards him quickly and grabbed his coat to shove him hard against the wall. This close it wasn't hard to see just how sharp her fangs were, or just how much she was enjoying this.]
I vouldn't be surprised if she haz zhe entire police force tailing my every move~. But, you know vat? Zhey should be vorried about vat kind of vicious und heartless voman is leading zhem.
[There was something definitely unnatural about her display of speed and strength as she had no issue holding him there.]
Did you know zhat she haz ordered my death twice? Zhe first time.. She sent her vampire pet after me. Alucard, zhe.. devil himself. I vas impaled und devoured alive by zhat beast all on her orders.
I suppose zhat doesn't matter though if you don't know vat I'm talking about.
[As she pins him he tries to wrench her hand off him, but to no avail. Even for someone as strong as he is, who can shatter iron with his bare hands, he's outmatched, so he stops struggling. A samurai knows when to accept defeat with dignity.]
You seem... very much intact for someone who was devoured alive. [He winces, his head throbbing, and glares at her.] Is that CERES' doing?
[He cute~. He was trying to put up a fight. Rip giggles softly and presses her body harder against his and lets a hand move up to caress his neck, seeking out his pulse and stroking along it.]
I suppose now it iz. Before.. It vas zhe vork of Ruby City und it's child god.
[Within a few moments she was leaning in to brush lips against his throat right over the plus point, ready to bite down.]
[Didn't Integra mention something about Ruby City too? Though that thought is quickly set aside when Rip starts caressing his neck. He tenses and tries to twist his neck away, though to little avail, when she already has him pinned between her and the wall.
He can do nothing but let a frustrated growl escape his throat. What a fool he'd been, to assume his usual blend of intimidation tactics and manipulation would get him anywhere with a case like this. It might have worked in prison and in the courtroom, but definitely not in this city -- where he's quickly learning the rules are entirely different.
[If he wanted to intimidate someone like Rip, he would have to do a lot harder. And be one hell of a monster.
As a human? He had no hope~. Rip giggled when she heard his growl and any attempts to push her away failed as she grabbed his head and turned him away from her, baring his throat as she brushed her lips against his throat and opened her moth to bite down.]
[When it became clear to Integra that Rip was no longer interested in playing fair (as if she ever was), Integra made no hesitation to abandon her position. Rip's fight was with her - in Integra's eyes - and honestly, had come to regret her violent outburst at Blackquill. Why had she let him agree to this?
Because she was stressed, inconsolable, and very human. It was as equally her fault as it was Simon's. More than that, as his superior, it was her obligation to rectify this.
After several moments, Integra finally arrives on the scene, and while Rip was lost in the moment, Integra's opportunity to strike had presented itself to her easier than she initially thought it would-- albeit at Simon's expense.
She fires one... no, two shots of blessed ammunition in Rip's direction. The action alone would be enough to make Integra's presence known.
[When he felt his head yanked back, it finally occurred to him that he could die at any moment. She could cut his throat, tear it out, snap his neck, and there would be nothing he could do about it. And although he made his peace with death a very long time ago, the utter pointlessness of dying here hits him like a heavy weight.
But she does none of those things, and instead he feels razor-sharp teeth sink into his neck. He lets out a pained gasp, mixed with a sense of revulsion, and he tries, once again, to reach for his knife--
Then come the gunshots. He doesn't bother to check who the shooter is, simply tries to take the element of surprise to shove Rip away from him.]
Rip is enjoying the feel of flesh give away under her fangs and the first drops of blood caressing her tongue. It's so nice to taste something so familiar again~.
She doesn't even hear someone else approaching or notice he's going for a knife until she hears the all to familiar crack of gunshots.
Both shots grazed her, tearing clothing and nicking skin. At first, she didn't think much of it.. then the searing pain started and Rip immediately let go of her victim enough to let him push her away as she reeled with shock.
The pain was spreading and agonizing! What was that!? She bit back a scream as she turned towards the source, rage burning in her eyes as she spots Integra.]
Zo zhe knight comes to save zhe damsel in distress. How cute.. Now go avay you blonde limey bastard und let me finish my meal.
[She scoffed. Sorry, she's just not having any of Rip's shit today. The venom in her tone was almost palpable.]
I know as well as you that you see this man as nothing more than a toy in this game of yours. Your battle is with me, madam. Spare him this instant, or I will make no hesitation to strike you down.
[She points her gun towards Rip, watching her carefully, but refrains from shooting her again just yet. While Blackquill was still in her grasp, it made targeting her difficult now that Rip was aware. Still, Integra had more than one backup plan should Rip refuse to obey.]
[As soon as he pushes Rip away, Blackquill draws the tanto, holding it in a defensive grip, his other hand trying to stem the blood from the punctures in his neck. Even with his skills in swordsmanship he knows he can't outmatch her in speed or strength, but he'd rather have a weapon between himself and her than nothing at all.]
If I turn into a bloodsucking monster... I'm holding you accountable, Sir Integra.
[Nothing like a little ill-timed humour when he could get killed at any moment.]
[Rip was till reeling from the spread what felt like fire against her skin. Those had to be silver and knowing the bitched, probably blessed by some crazy priest or something.
Just her luck. Rip kept her eyes trained on Integra and stayed aware of what her victim was doing.
What a cute little blade. She may have to use that to her advantage. Rip's eyes flickered from the blonde bitches to her evening meal before she forced herself to move. She quickly reached for the wrist of his hand holding the blade and twisted until she was able to maneuver him to be in front of her and the blade still in a defensive pose, only this time HE was protecting her as well.
Rip gritted her teeth, still trying to ignore the pain. She could have sworn it was getting worse.]
Vats a battle vithout a shield? All I vanted vas a quick bite und to find out vhy zhis moron vas hunting me.
It's not polite to stalk a girl vithout providing dinner first. Und besides, battles between us haf alvays had collateral damage, it's vat makes zhe fighting so much fun!
