The count, by his own nature, lives alone in a quaint mansion in the English countryside a few miles on the outskirts of the city. While he's not a native, he found the people and their culture charming, and the country charming enough to move from his original homeland to make a home in theirs. He was well-to-do and have the just means. A garden in the front and back of his home.

It was a long, dull life and in time, he decided to pick up a hobby. He starts collecting exotic pets namely lizards. He starts with small and then slowly works his way up. One wing of his mansion becomes a haven for his reptiles where he kept them safe and warm in their terrariums enclosure tanks and written their names down to keep them identified.

One day, he ordered a special snake from an establishment, a strange pet store that claims to sell pets with mysterious powers that cater to the dreams of their owners. He ordered a snake, or a special type of mythical serpent called the basilisk.

At best, he was skeptical, but he is willing to bet his money that no such creature existed. He makes a bid on her and he won, and he waited for nearly a few days for the package to arrive when he was notified that she is shipped.

It was a large wooden crate with open-air holes with the word marked, "Live snake! Perishable item! Handle with care!" written all over the box. Using a crowbar, he opens it only to find a beautiful woman wearing a long dark blue dress. There's a blindfold wrapped around her head to cover her eyes as she lay sleeping all curled up in warm hay. He found a guidebook in how to care for her which he took the time to read, but one fair warning is to never remove the blindfold.

He touched the side of her pale face, finding her skin smooth and cold to the touch. "I must be dreaming..." He murmured. He touches her face and holds her hand to warm her up, stroking gently.

"Wake up. Would you please wake up?"
