[To be honest, Rip hadn't been too thrilled to be sent half way across the world for a business meeting on behalf of her own organization. She had argued against going vehemently but, in the end she lost the argument and had been forced to go. The only caveat she got was that she was allowed to carry her own firearms.
Of them, she only carried a handgun with her. The rest were hidden within her luggage, including a rather.. suspiciously long case that held her most prized possession. All of which were to be delivered to her rooms separate from her. Unfortunately, this did little to ease her as they made their way slowly through traffic.
Not that she let it show. Rip was quiet and watching the world outside the tinted windows. Even with it being evening, she had to be careful considering her own vampiric status. Even her dark blue suit with it's matching tie and pale lavender dress shirt had been tailored with her kind in mind, making sure to cover most of her skin and even including white gloves. Really the only part of her not covered were her head and neck and even then..
Rip idly brushed some of her long raven black hair over her shoulder as she heard him mutter in Japanese. It was a language she recently learned so, there were still some phrases and words that she struggled with. But, that? She understood it and silently agreed even if she didn't say anything until he switched over to something he assumed she knew.]
It iz fine. Ve are in no rush since zhe night is still zo young.
[She finally glanced towards him, her sapphire blue eyes studying him in the rear view mirror just line he might be doing her. Rip looked like she was in her early twenties, maybe younger and almost innocent looking in a strange way. But, then again looks were very deceiving, weren't they.]
Besides, zhe jet lag vill haf me..useless for a day or two as I adjust to zhe new timezones. I'm sure your bosses haf made accommodations for zhat.
[Blue eyes? A faint chuckle escapes Yasu once he notices. The only other person he knew with blue eyes was Rachel. Regrettably, Yasu hasn't met many foreigners nevertheless other vampires. Even as a half breed, Yasu can acutely sense the presence of other supernatural beings quite easily. However, this woman is one of the few vampires he actually seen. Not many of them venture this far east despite the business prospects here in Japan. That is until now.]
Don't worry. [He answers after a slight pause.] The Saejima clan has prepared proper lodgings to accommodate our otherworldly clients.
[While Yasu might seem a tad too quiet and awkward at times, he carries himself like a businessman. He's a professional in every sense of the word and right now, he's tasked with the safety of their esteemed guest from Germany. So, she's in good hands. Although, Yasu could tell that this suit-clad woman brought a bit of heat with her.]
The estate isn't too far from here. We just have the traffic to worry about.
[He quietly drums his fingers against the steering wheel once the lulling lyrics of Shura no Hana starts. Yasu always been a fan of the classics, especially of Meiko Kaji's works. This is the closest he'll ever come to pop music. He's not a fan of most of the modern stuff and for good reason. Pop music nowadays lack soul and depth. Everything is just as generic in presentation as the pretty boys and gals singing about love and romance. It's all such a bore for Yasu.]
[She nodded slightly, her eyes lingering on the features she saw in the mirror for a few minutes more before taking her gaze away and looking back out the window once more. There was something tugging on her senses as she sat there and it was causing her no small amount of confusion.
Something about her driver felt both vampiric and not at the same time. As if he was half and this would be the first time she's ever encountered a 'half breed' with how rare they were even back west...Rip didn't even know if there was a word for it in all honesty.
If that was indeed what he was.
For now though, she was just focused on their surroundings and the music playing from the radio which surprisingly caught her attention with its slightly.. haunting sound? She glanced towards him again, her sharp ears following the lyrics even if she wasn't sure what half of them meant.]
Zhe song sounds beautiful...I've heard Japan haz a sense of music all its own in zome regards.
[As for her lodgings however..]
Und I'm sure Zhe Saejima Clan is vell prepared for my visit. Everyzhing I haf heard about your Clan has been exceptional und it iz vhy my Boss vishes for an alliance if ve can broker one.
[Yasu could see her peeking at him from the mirror. Freckles. Besides the vibrant blue eyes, she has lots of little freckles across her cheeks. It's kind of...cute in a way. Very cute, actually. Her peculiar freckles remind him of the faint mole on his right cheek. It's a blemish that never quite faded. Yasu had it since childhood, a momento of the father he never met.]
That we do. [He replies with a faint chuckle.] While Europe has Mozart and Bach, we have Tōru Takemitsu and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
[He states with some pride.]
However, that's the late Meiko Kaji singing now. She was quite beloved in the seventies. A real songstress with a beautifully haunting voice who sung about the darker side of love.
[He quiets once the woman mentions his boss. While Yasu has his personal misgivings about this would be alliance with alleged "nazis", he knew when to keep his mouth shut. His personal opinions don't matter here but he can't help but feel a tad jaded about this unholy alliance.]
Money. [He mutters once traffic finally starts moving.] Your boss has money, lot's of it. The Saejima clan is more than willing to do business with foreigner investors as long as they have money.
[A smirk curls onto his lips as he focuses on the busy road ahead.]
We pirate the best weaponry from the Black Market for your war and you folks pay us handsomely for it. Capitalism at it's finest.
[She'd notice the mole and thought it gave him character, much like her own dusting of freckles did. While he talked about music, she nodded and made a mental note to check out the artists he mentioned in her spare time. If they sounded anything like what was on the radio now, she was interested in listening.
However once the talk turned more towards business, she stilled a bit. Money was quite the factor here and her Organization had a lot of it. Spoils from a previous war funding the oncoming new one once they had the resources and weaponry for it. The confrontation in question was the war waged by her Major, fifty years in the making..
Rip was just destined to play her part in it just like the rest in the grand bloody opera he conducted. Though, right now her part consisted of securing weaponry with any means necessary and that meant this unholy little alliance.]
Zhen ve haf plenty of money so your veaponry vill be put to fine use for our purposes.
[She sighed softly and adjusted her wire rimmed glasses.]
Zhough, I haf to ask. Vat is your part in zhis clan of yours? You don't strike me as just zome common driver.
What's my part in all this? [Despite her thick accent, Yasu understood her perfectly but that doesn't prompt him to answer her any faster.] That's a good question.
[Now that traffic is moving again, Yasu speeds up a little. It seems there was a three man collision further up the road. The faint scent of burning oil and singed metal catches his nose. Barely any blood. Seems that the victims involved all survived with minimum injuries. Nevertheless, the scent of blood makes his fangs ache.]
Angel. [He announces suddenly after turning off the free way and into the city streets ahead.] I'm their....Angel of Death.
[Yasu isn't about to speak of his affiliation with the boss but maybe she'll understand what he means there. He's a hitman, an assassin born and raised. His mother tried to carve out a decent life for him but his violent urges made that quite difficult.]
Some would claim that I'm more of a "devil" than an "angel" but I disagree.
[She sat up a little straighter when she realized there had been an accident before them further up in the road. Like him, she caught the scent of burning oil and singed metal. Though, she thought it was strange there was barely any blood beneath all the machinery.
Of course, it.. made her a little hungry as well. The scent of blood would always excite a vampire, even if it's a small amount.
Her thoughts were pulled from the collision as they turned down another street, leaving the freeway behind while he answered her question. The answer told her all she needed to know and even made her smile slightly.]
Zhat's adorable. Zhey sent zheir Angel of Death to guard Millennium's Huntress.
[In a way, she found it funny. Rip was in a similar position in her own organization. Where all of them had the ability to kill, her methods were the cleanest that left no trace of vampire involvement. Assassin might be one word for what she did. Sniper was her preferred word for it.]
I never miss. Perhaps ve should find a shooting range und see vho might be zhe better marksman if zhere is time.
Adorable? [That earns an eyebrow raise from Yasu who huffs a laughs.] That's a first.
[While he's mentally rolling his eyes, Yasu can't help but be a little intrigued. This isn't his first time running into a female assassin. The great Aomame comes into mind. Named after Murakami's beloved femme fatal, she was an orphan from Osaka who watched her parents be brutally killed right before her eyes by their boss. To say the least, it was a messy affair that nearly cost him his life. It's not right to compare the German to her but they both possess that same air of danger.]
Never? [He smirks a little.] Even when you blink?
[All jokes aside, he believes her. She has no reason to lie about something and it shows. Yasu straightens his posture some once they reach the drive way of the grand seemingly glass building up head.]
Sure. [He finally answers once he finds a good parking spot.] I wouldn't mind a decent challenge for a change.
[Once they're all settled, Yasu turns off the engine in perfect sync with Meiko's final few notes. He opens the door and climbs out. After a brief stretch and a chance to smooth down his shirt, Yasu walks towards the rear and opens the door for her.]
Welcome to Hotaru, the Saejima clan's personal oasis in Tokyo.
[What she meant by that was something she wasn't going to elaborate on. Instead she was just going to let his imagination run with it for now and maybe sometime in the future she would clue him in..
Rip was one of the first real successes Millennium had with their...techniques that didn't leave someone a horrific mess and to date, one of the more complete vampires they produced. She took pride in that and her position within the Organization as a whole.
And yet.. she still felt she was lacking. Even now.
Once the car was settled and he was out, she waited for the door to open before stepping out, practically unfolding her 6'2 frame as her long black hair cascaded around her as she stood up.
A hand rested on top of the door as she glanced past her driver towards the rest of the estate, taking in grand building up head. Even the scent of the night was vastly different here compared to her homeland...So rich and timeless.
Rip smiled faintly before turning her attention back to him, studying him once more as if she couldn't quite place something and well, she couldn't.]
You're not a vampire und you aren't human. Vat are you? If you don't mind me asking.
[There's remnants of the past everywhere in Japan. In every nook and cranny there's hints of Japan's feudal era. Even here in Tokyo, there's hints of ancient Edo preserved by the people's idealistic love for the past. It's unlike most cities. Tokyo is in perfect harmony with itself in both the old and the new. An true oasis for romantics who yearn for both tomorrow and yesterday.
Maybe that's why the nights here feel so different because they are.]
Hm? [A faint smirk lingers on his lips once she turns to him.] So you've noticed? I'm surprised.
[Yasu reaches up to his turquoise shades and gently plucks them off. His eyes look as deep as the night itself but with hints of crimson lurking within. She's one of the few to look at him eye to eye. He's quite tall for a Japanese man, the same height as her.]
A dhampir. [He answers at last.] My father was a vampire but I was born to a human mother.
[It's the crimson in his eyes that catches her attention along with his height now that they were standing face to face. So far, she had yet to see anyone her height within this foreign land, until him anyway.
She tilted her head as she studied him, quirking an eyebrow slightly at the unfamiliar term before he stated what it meant.]
Zhen you are quite rare. I vasn't even avare a half breed vas possible.. or zhat zhere vas a vord for it.
[Admittedly, that made him even more interesting to her. Rip leaned in, resting against the door to peer more at him as she mulled something over.]
It also puts you a cut above zhe humans I'll be forced to deal vith. Ve value uniqueness in my Organization und you are definitely zhat. Vho knows, maybe I'll like you enough to stay~.
There's a word for people like me. [Yasu states with a slight curl of lips.] One that's not often said.
[His kind is a rare breed, if not the rarest. Vampires don't often have offspring, this is why their numbers are far and few in between. The reason why the Saejima clan shows such interest in Millennium isn't just because of their money but also because of their "research". It took Boss Tanaka years to acknowledge his grandson's potential but once he did, Tanaka wanted to find any means to harness such power. Even if it met aligning his family with neo-nazis. He wants Yasu's gift, he wants it and plans on using their research to create monsters of his own. Much like the days of World War II, Japan wants in on this war.]
I'm flattered. [He says with a slight nod.] Although, I regret to inform I won't be abandoning my clan anytime soon but I can keep you company.
[With that said, Yasu steps away from the vehicle and onto the sidewalk. He peers at Rip over his shoulder and gives her a flirty grin.]
Zhere are many names for many things~. Perhaps it's not just dumb luck zhat sent me here.
[Rip was beginning to wonder considering she was one of only two women in the entire Organization and the most successful result. But, that couldn't really be the reason, right?
Sending The Captain would have been fruitless, The Major never ventures far from the base, Zorin was too crass.. and the Valentine brothers would have started a blood bath. She had been the obvious choice.
Especially if this clan of his wanted to see the results of their research first hand. Whatever the reason, here she was now and her dear host was proving more and more interesting by the second.]
Vell, if you change your mind, I'll be happy to help~.
[She smirks faintly, noting his flirty grin and might be feeling a little flirty herself.]
